Over the period Saturday 26th June - Monday 12th July West Suffolk Wheeler Simon Bourne will be cycling from the Rock Of Gibraltar to Royal Air Force Honington as part of a multi-charity ride where he will be representing the Royal British Legion.
Simon is dedicating this ride to the memory of Senior aircraftsman Luke Southgate of Bury St Edmunds who tragically lost his life while serving on operations in Afghanistan earlier this year with 2 Squadron RAF Regiment. Simon will be flying a Union Jack flag from the rear of his bike throughout this challenging ride bearing the words "LUKE SOUTHGATE" "RAF REGIMENT" The flag is due to be handed over to the Station Commander at RAF Honington at approximately 1515 hours on Monday 12th July!!
The final leg of this 1600 mile ride will take place on Monday 12th July from the Memorial on Angel Hill to RAF Honington passing the home of Luke before moving on to Honington.
Arrangements have been made to parade the flag through Bury St Edmunds leaving Angel Hill Memorial at 2 pm. Simon would like to invite all members of the West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club to come and "Ride For Luke" and to take the lead as a club on escorting the flag to RAF Honington.
