Federation Français de Cycletourisme

If you prefer something more continental try the FFCT (Federation Français de Cycletourisme) annual bash, the Semaine Federal. This year the event is based in Flers (Normandy) during the week Sat 30th July to Sunday 7th August. This is the big one. 10,000 to 12,000 cyclist from all over the world will enjoy a series of rides from 50 to 200km, a trade show, a picnic, evening entertainment and one of the biggest non racing cycling events of the year. Think Mildenhall Rally weekend and multiply everything X10!

The routes are sign posted and easy to follow, the official stops are organised with food and a bar, the trade show has most things. Last year the trade show highlights were try a ride recumbents, Salmon custom bikes with components painted to match and Berthoud Carbonfibre mudguards at £190 a pair.

Hotels all around are booked years in advance, the campsites are huge hence the Semaine is not for those who like their own company.

The contingent from UK grows every year and last year I saw riders from Chippenham Wheelers, Derby Mercury, Solihull C.C. and South Lancs C.C to name the club jerseys I remember.

This year there will be WSW&Tri in the group again.
