Our cyclo-crossers have been in action again over the last two weekends, at Davey Down in Essex and at Hempton in Norfolk.
The Davey Down meeting saw Alan Trolove score his first outright victory in the Under 16 category that he has now moved into. He led for several laps, fell, remounted in second, and in a last lap effort re-took the lead for the win. Meanwhile Adi Grimwood finished 21st in the Vets, with Trish Dennison 33rd. Mildenhall’s Mandy Cook was 37th with son Matt, now in API colours, coming a creditable 4th in the Senior race.
The following weekend saw the riders tackling the demanding course at Hempton, near Fakenham. Alan rode well to finish just 21 seconds behind race favourite Josh Hannan, despite breaking his pedal cleat. This brings Alan up to third place in the U16 League, with a good chance of securing second overall, with four rounds of the championship remaining. Esther Colman also rode, making 11th place and second in the U16 girls. Adrian suffered on this course and was disappointed with 24th in the Vets. Trish Dennison missed this round, but still holds on to second place in the Ladies League. Matt Cook gained another 4th in the big race.
