FRIDAY NIGHTS

The last four Friday evenings have seen much activity at the clubroom. With our help Cycle Suffolk and British Cycling have hosted a Watt Bike League. We’ve had 33 riders take part in the racing, which varied weekly, with 300 metre sprints, 3000 metre pursuits and other variations. A host of non-competing spectators watched the action, and very entertaining it was. Overall victory went to Dale Sturman, just pipping James Eastwood in the final event, with Rob Norman’s son, Steven, well up with the leaders. New comer Emma Field was impressive and won the best lady award. Our thanks to John Stockwell, Emily Fisher and their helpers as well as the regular club stalwarts who helped.

In preparation for our ROLLER RACING COMPETITION for the Rosebowl on SATURDAY FEB 12, we are holding Roller Racing Practice NEXT FRIDAY FEB 4th, 7-9pm.

We will have adult and juvenile bikes ready for everyone to come and try out. All bikes are secured to the rollers by means of front-fork brackets ~ so you can’t fall off ~ and all have the same (fixed) gear, and toe clips.  No need to bring a bike, or even shoes. Everyone is welcome to come and have a go, even if you are not thinking about entering the competition. For those that are planning to compete it will be invaluable practice. That applies to juveniles as well as seniors, vets and ladies.
