A mild and sunny day made for ideal racing conditions at Thetford Forest on Sunday which hosted round 3 of the popular Mud Sweat & Gears mountain bike series. This round also incorporated the Eastern Region Championship.
The course consisted of mainly of sections of twisty single track linked by short fire roads. Parts of the single track were pretty fragile and several riders got caught out as tyres washed out on the soft sand. Paul Watson didn’t seem to have any problems as he recorded a comfortable 3rd place in the Grand Veteran race ahead of club mates Malcolm Macfarlane (23rd) and Paul Barry (39th). Malcolm Borg finished 13th in the Masters Race. Earlier in the day, Robin Lines continued his solid progress finishing 9th in the Youth race.
Next round Ickworth Park on Sunday June 16th. Early entry is advised as some categories were full well ahead of the race day. http://mudsweatgears.co.uk/index.php
