There was a hard days racing and a step up in class for the club's younger members today as the National League made its way to Hog Hill.
In the under 8s Victoria Asker did well to secure second place in a tough race with some of the best girls in the country in attendance.
In the Under 12s race Fraser Elsworth and Sam Asker were competing for the Wheelers, A random draw for places saw Sam start from the back of the field and due to an accident directly in front of him at the start he never made it into the relative shelter of the bunch and spent the race chasing them down. Fraser, starting at the front of the field avoided the chaos and managed to stay with the bunch for over half of the race getting dropped towards the end as the paced built.
In the under 14s Matt put in some sterling work and showed good speed up the hills, but the quality was such that he was never going to be in contention and he retired towards the end of the race after being lapped by the leaders. To sum up, some highs and lows today, some valuable lessons learnt but they are all improving and most importantly HAVING FUN ON A BIKE!
