1st Bury Park Run

Three WSW & Tri runners took part in the first Parkrun in Bury St Edmunds. These free, weekly timed 5km runs are organised by volunteers in locations all over the UK, and the event in Nowton Park was the first in Bury St Edmunds.

160 competitors lined up to enjoy two laps of a 2.5km course around the park. The wide, open track and sections through the wooded areas provided plenty of variety for the runners and good conditions for running. Even the weather played it's part, with the warm summers morning making for great running conditions.

Faster Wheeler around the 5km course was Phil Clarke (21:22) finishing in 21st place, followed 51 seconds later by Ian Pettitt (22:13) who finished in 30th position. David Leaver finished in 47th place (24:08).

The full results were available the same day on the website. For anyone who is interested in taking part, the events are free and there is no need to enter in advance, just turn up and run. However, you must register on the website before the event to get your barcode, which is scanned when finishing the event to match your time to you. When registering, please select West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club as you team/club, then your results will appear on our club results page.
