Grass Track Racing

Our annual Grass Track race meeting takes place on August 8th
at Priory School, Mount Road
starting at 11am.

As usual the track will comprise a 300 metre oval on the sports field, and the meeting will include a mixture of events, ranging from one lap sprints to the 8k endurance race, and including other favourites such as team sprints and a Madison.

All the adult events will be contested on fixed wheel track bikes, as will the events for experienced juveniles, but we will also be running events for inexperienced youngsters on freewheel bikes. We also will be catering for Trikes.

Stephen Hill’s excellent photo of Ed Ballam challenging Alan Trolove at last year’s event captures the excitement of the event, not to mention stylish and youthful enthusiasm.

For those club members (juveniles and adults) who wish to ride we are running two training sessions at the venue on Tuesdays July 27 and August 3, at 6.30 and we can probably arrange club bikes to borrow for anyone who is not equipped. Give me a ring in good time.

Those members who have never seen Grass Track, why not come and spectate at the event, and hopefully the club runs on the day will give us a look as well.

As usual Brenda and Don Picking we will be selling refreshments to help the viability of the event, and will be obliged to any members donating cakes beforehand.
