Alan Trolove had a busy weekend racing and came away from the Open Track Meeting at Herne Hill on Saturday with one of his best results to date. In the Keirin he got third in his heat, but then came second in the final. This was followed by a 12 lap Points Race for A group riders with points every other lap. Alan scored points on four laps including a win, and ended up second overall to the same rider who won the Keirin, James Solly. Next was an A Group Devil, an event where Alan normally does well, and he managed to stay in till the bitter end for another second, again to Solly. Final race of the day was the 20km Allcomers, and with 18 laps left Alan was one of four riders who managed to escape the pack. Two riders failed to maintain the pace,to leave Alan and Solly to fight out the sprint, with Alan managing to turn the tables for the win, and £50 prize money!
On Monday Alan (and Sheila)
made the long journey to Richmond, Yorkshire for the National 8 kilometre Grass Track Championship, gaining a most creditable eighth place in his first Grass Track of the year, and feeling that his gear selection was wrong! He also placed third in the devil to finish off a great weekend.
