- Go Tri Duathlon
- Club Championships
- Presentation from Triathlon England
Junior Triathlon 3rd July
New Race Director Denise O'Brien has taken on organisation this year.
Entry's to date are 92, we have space available for 200.
Our event is not a regional league race this year and that could be why we are low on entry's.
Word is spreading and we need to focus on local schools and clubs to fill our event.
Geraldine McKeag is looking at sponsorship, Phil suggested approaching the business list on our website.
Risk assessments race logistics are well in hand.
Phil did a short presentation on our 2106 initiatives listed below to raise awareness and answer any questions. All items have a tab under Triathlon on the club website will full information.
Open Water swimming at Larkwood, West Stow
There is a large amount of interest both from within and outside the club for our open water swim. This will be for club members only for safety and insurance reasons, although a join collaboration with another local Tri club could be considered going forward.
Carol McDonald our Regional Triathlon England manger joined our meeting and suggested we contact a wetsuit company to do a try on wetsuit session, since yesterday Phil has contact Zone 3 and is waiting for more information.
We will have 2 spotters on the lake at all times along with someone checking swimmers in and out of the water.
Question was asked is the a maximum number we can have in the water, there will be but until we get a feel for things I can't give a figure.
Go Tri Duathlon
Rules have changed and include children 8 years old upward, so this really something the whole club can do.
All three Duathlons are at Maglia Rosso with a safe off-road run course and the bike course is on very quiet country roads.
Club Champuionships
This has been introduced so club members can race each other at a recognized race for club trophies.
Fritton Triathlon Weekend offer a super sprint, sprint and olympic distance race, all three form our club championships so we have races covering all ability's and four age groups within each race. With races being over a weekend and many accommodation options available on site it's hoped members will stay and support each other. It's a great opportunity to bring your cowbells from last seasons West Suffolk Triathlon and make some noise.
