Duathlon 27th March 2011

This is the first multisport event hosted by West Suffolk Wheelers And Triathlon Club, ENJOY!

The Duathlon is based at Beyton Middle School in the village of Beyton. The village is between Bury and Stowmarket close to J46 of the A14.

4.4km RUN - 21.8km BIKE - 4.4km RUN

There will be a official British Triathlon Federation Referee on site through out the event.

Runners will start in four waves of up to 30. The run course leaves the school on lanes for an anti clockwise loop. Back on at the school collect your bike for two laps of the bike course, taking in the village of Thurston, Blackthorpe and Rougham

There is one Right Turn on the course; all competitors MUST make a FOOT DOWN and STOP at this point on both laps. Any violation will lead to disqualification.

After the second lap of the bike leg competitors return again to the school to rack bikes for the second run over the same route as the first.

BTF rules will be applied through out the event. The cycle ride will be on open public highweays; all riders must be aware of other traffic around them and comply with the Highway Code at all times.

No helmet no ride (Helmets must meet safety standards, no head fairings – see BTF website for details).

Prizes will be awarded for 1,2,3 overall male and female + first place age group male and female. We also have a prize for the 1st novice. Changing & W/C facilities are available in the school. Refreshments. Results will be published on this, the club website. www.westsuffolkwheelers.co.uk

N.B. No vehicles movements will be allowed on the school grounds from 8:35 until the last competitor is finished. This is for everyones safety.

8:35 – 8:45 Marshals briefing

8:45 – 8:55 Competitors briefing

9:00 First Wave off, (Race numbers will be colour code according to start time)

9:05 Second Wave off

9:10 Third Wave off

9:15 Fourth Wave off

11:00 – 11:15 (approx) Last competitor home, Site reopens to vehicular traffic.

11:15 – 11:30 (approx) Prize presentation, provisional results available.

12:00 Site closes

I confirm that I have done sufficient training to ensure that I am fit enough to cope with the demands of this event. I shall ensure that the bike I use is of roadworthy condition and understand that it is a requirement to wear an approved cycle helmet. I accept that taking part in this event is by its nature hazardous and contains certain inherent risks. The risks of participation include, but are not restricted to, weather conditions, road traffic, behaviour of other participants, volunteer helpers, officials and spectators in and out of the event, dehydration, hypothermia and the behaviour of animals. I accept that I owe a significant duty of care to all the other competitors and all the spectators of the event. I will exercise all reasonable care to avoid causing death, injury or loss to any such persons. I accept that this event is conducted under BTF rules and conditions and I agree to acquaint myself with and abide by those rules and any organisers instructions.

The event organiser may be approached by the sport's governing body for the personal details you have entered this event with. For example, if you are not a member of their organisation already, they may need to know about you so that you can be insured by them. West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club will not pass your details onto anybody except the British Triathlon Federation and their Insurance provider.
