Norwich Sportspark Triathlon Relay

Looking for a fun way to end the triathlon season, then why not try our new relay event suitable for athletes of all abilities and triathlon families.

What’s it all about:
The possibility of ITU’s Team Triathlon format becoming part of the Olympics in 2016 has captured our imagination and we are putting on an event of this type at the University Sportspark in Norwich.

ITU’s Team Triathlon format is racing at its most thrilling. It’s energetic, exciting, uncompromising and action-packed. This innovative format comprises teams of two men and two women and each athlete completes a ‘super-sprint’ triathlon of swimming, biking and running, before tagging off to their next team mate. It’s non-stop action from the very beginning.

Distances for our event will be 200m swim/ 4.5km bike/ 1200m run and is suitable for athletes of all ages and abilities. The swim will be in the Sportspark pool, The bike course is a 2 lap loop on the campus roads and the run will be on the Sportspark running track.  We believe the format and distances involved really appeals to novices, youth and experienced athletes alike and develops the sport among new generations and new audiences. As such we will be running 3 different race categories for teams as follows:

Rookie Racers: Teams of two males and two females made up of novice athletes that are new to triathlon or have only competed in a handful of races. For ages 11 to adult

Frantic Families:  Teams to be made up of one or two families.  Each team must contain two parents and two children (note: children do not have to be related but the team must include at least one of their parents). Teams must still include two males and two females and there is no maximum age for the children as long as one of their parents is also in the team.

Warriors: For teams of experienced athletes aged 15 upwards – those looking to race fast and furious

Note:  Each team (regardless of category) must consist of 4 athletes - two women (girls) and two men (boys).

Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 teams in each category.

There will be a maximum of 16 teams in each category.

Entry fee is £60 per team.  For any team members that are not members of British Triathlon then a day membership must be purchased at a cost of £4 each (£2 for U18s).

Entry form is attached.  Get your club and friends involved in an end of season triathlon celebration.

Kind Regards

Simon
