Triathlon Round-up May 2016

Triathlon Season is well underway and the first half of May has seen considerable success for West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club.

Grafham Water Standard Distance - Sunday 8th May

Grafham Tri 2016 - Hannah McInroy Naylor

Hannah McInroy Naylor had a strong season opener at the Grafham Water standard (Olympic) distance triathlon.

On a hot day Hannah came a well placed 23rd and 10th in age group over the 1500 meter swim, 23.4 mile bike and 10km run. With splits of 24.13 swim, 1:06:49 bike and 44:11 run, Hannah commented she felt quite confident that she could hold a similar pace at the upcoming Half Ironman in Holkham on 3rd July.

 

Newmarket Triathlon - Sunday 15th May

Newmarket Triathlon saw more early season success for WSW&TC over the sprint distance of 300 meter swim, 22km bike & 4km run.

First Wheeler home and in 3rd place overall Matt Shingleton just 16 seconds behind the leader, also pushing into the top ten Darren Sharman in 9th.
Newmarket Triathlon 2016 - Annie Mackay Drugan
Annie Mackay Drugan in her first outing this season claimed 1st lady and 27th overall, Jill Wilshaw came in 127th and 1st in age group to go with her age group win at the coast coast Tri a few weeks ago.

Skegness Sprint Triathlon - Sunday 15th May

Liz and Dermot O'Riordan Skegness Tri 2016

A little further North husband & wife duo Liz & Dermot O'Riordon competed at the Skegness Sprint Triathlon over 400 meter swim, 18km bike & 5k run.
This was Liz's first Triathlon since breast cancer treatment and both Liz and Dermot enjoyed the fast flat course on what was a lovely sunny morning.
