He faired better in the 750 metre time trial with an impressive 57.8 second time, earning him fifth place. Ron Back recorded 43.7 seconds for 500 metres, for sixth place in the 65-69 group.

Back improved to fifth in the 2000 metre pursuit with 2min 56 seconds - a time that would have earned him silver in the next younger category! Barry Denny recorded a personal best 2min 49 seconds for fifth place in the 55-59 year age group, whilst Adrian Grimwood also achieved a pb with 4min 16 seconds for 3000 metres, placing 11th in the 35-39 group.

The scratch races saw Back pull out with stomach pains, Grimwood eliminated in a very fast race dominated by Scotsman Greg Sandy and Denny finishing in the pack in his race, victory being taken by midlands ace Geoff Cooke.
