Waveny Valley Triathlon

Lee Sole was representing the West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club at the Waveny Valley Triathlon.  The swim went off in waves of 5 to cover 16 lengths of the leisure centre pool.  Sole’s swim went well and he posted a quick time for the 400m.

The weather was good, very sunny and much warmer than the past few weeks.  The bike route went out from Bungay sports centre, through flixton, Ilketshall St Margaret, then back into Bungay.  The course has a couple testing inclines but is generally flat and fast, although the wind was building throughout the morning.  The cycle leg went well for Sole and, again, he posted a quick time.  The run, albeit short, is very hilly and with no flat sections, the turn around point was at the highest point on the run and the finish line also at the end of short sharp incline.  Sole’s legs were not feeling the best before the race and his previous injuries brought some pain in the run giving him a slower than expected run time, however he still managed to grab a personal best for the course.  A strong group of competitors made for a very close finish with the top 7 split by just over 2 mins, much closer than seen in previous years.  Sole finished 7th overall and 2nd in group, missing out on the age group win due to the slower run.
