The West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club
The cycling club, formed in 1922, is based in Bury St Edmunds and has produced many good riders over the years. We have a good cross-section of cycling on offer to welcome new and experienced cyclists alike. In 2010, a triathlon section was formed which has been a very successful and popular addition to our activities.
If you wish to learn bike handling skills for on and/or off-road cycling our members have the knowledge and experience to teach you. The club is proud of it development work with young people, and we have coaches to guide new cyclists in their training, as well as swimming and triathlon coaches to help hone your technique.

This is a broad outline of our club activities through the year, but there are many more!
- Second Monday of every month at 7:30pm: a meeting at the Club Headquarters, in the grounds of Priory School, Bury St Edmunds. Come along to meet our members and to learn about our activities
- Wednesday/Thursday evenings in autumn/winter: Turbo Training at Headquarters. Contact Barry Denny on 01284 386409
- Tuesdays from 6.30pm April- July: Go Ride for age 8 upwards:-, Priory School, Mount Road, Bury St Edmunds. Contact Helen Ballam on 01284 706522
- Tuesdays at 8:15pm: swim training at Leisure Centre, Bury St Edmunds. Contact Phil Clarke on
- Wednesdays 9 am: a midweek club ride, which leaves from the New Green Community Centre in Thurston - between 50 and 60 miles. For further information, please contact Justin Wallace on 01359 23215
- Thursday evenings (April onwards): Evening Time Trial series on local roads, not the A14.
- Saturdays: Leisure Ride (all abilities; approx 25 miles) 10-12am Club House Shakers Lane. New riders please contact Paul Callow (01284 702552) to ensure the ride will be on for any given date
- Sundays 9am Headquarters: ‘Expresso’ Club Ride (approx 55 miles 18mph) Sundays 9:00am Headquarters: ‘Cappuccino’ Club Ride (approx 45 miles 15mph)
From time to time we have training weekends, roller racing, social rides and other events.
