Dawn Raid: June 23rd 2013

Dawn Raid 2013

This years Dawn Raid is heading to France! A chance to ride the picturesque hills of Northern France and sample a leisurely lunch in the summer sun.

Please email wsw@spike.co.uk to register your interest.

Here's the plan:

  • Leaving Bury at dawn, we'll head down to DoverSunday June 23rd
  • Park cars and onto bikes for a 7:00am ferry
  • Arrive Calais and transfer unwanted kit to backup vehicle
  • Split into groups for easy, medium and long routes
  • Stop for lunch
  • Return to Calais for 4/5pm ferry
  • Home to Bury

A backup vehicle will be available to provide mechanical assistance and rescue if required. Route and cafe guides will be provided.

We need to get an idea of numbers before booking the ferry, so could you please email wsw@spike.co.uk to register your interest. Approx cost of the ferry will be £10 return including your bike.

About the West Suffolk Wheelers
  • The West Suffolk Wheelers cycling club was formed in 1922 and is based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. We have a good cross-section of cycling on offer to welcome new and experienced cyclists alike. If you wish to learn bike handling skills for on and/or off-road cycling our members have the knowledge and experience to teach you. The Club is proud of it's development work with young people, and we have coaches to guide new cyclists in their training. We are active in all areas of cycling including: Road Racing, Time Trials, Track Racing, Club Runs,Touring, Audax, Sportive, Mountain Biking and Cyclo-cross. Members also compete in triathlon competitions; the Club is recently affiliated to Triathlon England, and new triathlete members are welcomed
