Ixworth Cycle Races 2016 News

The Club is again promoting an 8 race criterium programme in the West Suffolk village of Ixworth on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May 2016.

The day long series of races including elite, women’s and junior races, each of between approximately 20 mins and an hour long takes place on a closed road circuit of some 900m around the village centre, and is East Anglia’s premier day of circuit races aimed at riders of all ages and abilities.

Beginning with the first race at 11:40am, the series consistently produces fast exciting racing and close finishes and attracts riders from Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Norwich and beyond including this year Chorley Cycles Drops RT in advance of the forthcoming national TourSeries, and elite U23 race team Catford CC Equipe/Banks.

The course is demanding and is a good test of rider skill, and culminates with the stand out event of the Elite/1/2 category National B race.

“We are very excited to continue promoting this event” said the club’s Event Organiser Adrian Grimwood “not only do the riders need to demonstrate speed and excellent bike handling skills but it makes for great spectator sport. This is continuing to be a very popular event, with most of the adult categories full. The crowds are superb, and the event is free to free to watch and we warmly encourage spectators to come along. For the first time we will be using chip timing technology in all races. The event is well supported by local residents and businesses, with many families enjoying the fantastic racing and entertainment on show”.
