Cyclo Cross League Week Three
Week three saw a record number of West Suffolk contenders, with a total of 20 of us competing and we were represented in all the races!
The course was set out on the playing fields of the Baldock Sports Centre, with lots of long grassy straights punctuated with one pair of dismount boards and two steep banks, one rideable, one not ~ a course for the strong and fittest riders.
Oliver Griggs scored his best result so far with 5th in the U10s with Victoria Asker 13th, Grace Whitwell 17th and Sophie Griggs debuting in 18th.
We had two riders in the U12 race with Matt Whitwell 25th and Lianna Denny 32nd and three more in the U16 race, in which Sam Asker came 16th and on the podium as third best U14, his brother Matt 28th and Fraser Elsworth 32nd.
Both the Vets and Senior races were again over-subscribed and were run with full grids of 80 starters. As usual Mike Bowen was by far the fastest of our club riders in the vets (over 45) with an excellent 8th, next was fast improving Ian Mortlock 38th, Adrian Grimwood 41st, Simon Elsworth making a good debut in 46th, Darren Baker 48th, Barry Denny 49th and David Griggs 63rd.
The final event was the one hour senior race in which Richard Stiff came home 62nd, James Asker 65th, John Brooks 69th and Matt Denny 72nd.
