Nowton Park Cross Country Results

A great day was had by the Wheelers cross country runners last Sunday at Nowton Park.  A great turn out of 16 runners took to the deceivingly tough course.  Although reasonably flat, it was very fast and head winds hampered pace in a couple of areas.  Thanks not only to the runners but also the supporting Wheelers who came along to cheer us on.  With two races left here are the results so far including Sunday's individual times and positions...

Matt Shingleton - 21st - 00:34:10

Iain Milligan - 53rd - 00:36:30
Jeff Agricole - 70th - 00:37:31
Julian Colman - 106th - 00:40:25
Chris Hinnit - 167th - 00:46:18
Dawn D'Amarco - 173rd (40th Lady) - 00:47:06
Nicole Moulam - 201st (59th Lady) - 00:58:14

The last three races are as follows...
Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds.       22nd January 2012.
Ditchingham, Bungay.                         19th February 2012.
Haughley Park, Stowmarket.              4th March 2012

A scoring team consists of 7 men and 3 women and the more that cross the line the more points the team gets.  Of the non-running clubs we are sitting second to a combined Ipswich and Newmarket Tri club team!!

It would be fantastic to have some more of the club's female members joining us for the remaining three races so if you fancy giving it a go please let Adi Barbrooke (adibarbrooke@hotmail.com) know.

BURY St Edmunds man Peter Balls took his third successive East District Cycling Association 25 mile championship, setting a new championship record time of 52:19 and beating second-placed Paul Ashby by 2:27.

Balls, who rides for West Suffolk Wheelers, is a thorough-going time trialist whose current aim is to beat 50 minutes for a 25-mile ride in competition. With a current personal best of 50:12 he may not have to wait long to achieve that.
