Excellent Result for Lee Sturman

The first race meeting of the Elveden Race Series took place on Saturday March 9 in the most awful conditions with continual rain throughout the day. But this didn’t stop almost 300 riders enjoying racing on the 3.5 mile closed-road circuit within the Elveden Estate.

Lee Sturman was the most successful rider representing WSW&TC riding into a brilliant second place in a highly competitive race for 3rd category riders, with Richard Farrow finishing in the bunch.

Earlier in the day there was a big pile up in the final 300 yards of the 26 mile 4th cat race, which started with 90 riders but ended in a bunch of about 40 riders. Matt Eaglen came down and sustained an injured shoulder but Jeremy Waterson managed to avoid the worst of the carnage, although Glenn Morris had crashed earlier in the race. James Asker, Stuart Grand, Ben Stephens, Richard Stiff also represented the club and young Thomas Mills made his racing debut.

Matt Asker and Rhys Holland-Jones took part in the U14 race finishing neck and neck, with Robin Lines in the U16 race, which was two laps longer. Will Mapus-Smith was well placed for a good finish in this race but was involved in another late pile up and suffered minor injuries.

WSW&TC were also part of the organisation and thanks go to Adrian Grimwood, Steve Newman, Geoff Byne, Bryan Alldis and Richard Seggar with yours truly trying to keep everyone informed on the PA.

Next Round is on April 6th, hopefully with much friendlier weather !

We need another good crop of club riders and volunteers.
