Suffolk Circuit Race Series

Trinity Park Ipswich was the venue for more great racing in round 3 of the Maglia Rosso sponsored Suffolk Circuit Race Series, at which West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club was again well represented.

In the combined U14/U16 race Sam Asker rode well to finish 4th at under 14, with Fabian Horrocks also up close with the action. Making his racing debut was Felix Wilden who acquitted himself well.

Darren Baker returned to racing in the Go Race event for newcomers, joined by Graham Smith. Both Wheelers battled it between themselves out throughout the race, just off the back of the main group, with honours going to Graham.

Last week’s winner of the 4th category race, Andy Brinkley, was rewarded with an upgraded start in the 3rd category event.

Starting 1 minute behind the 4th cat riders, which included club mates Tom Smith, Jeremy Waterstone, Matt Denny, Steve Newman, Mark Dykes, Paul Vickers and ex Wheelers junior riders Alan Trolove and Will Malpuss-Smith, Brinkley’s group caught the 4th category group and was itself caught by the scratch group of 1st and 2nd category riders.

A crash on the final lap amongst the lead group lead to an inevitable sprint finish which saw a win for Strada Sport rider Stuart Pryce, Paul Vickers being the highest placed Wheeler in 8th.
