Time Trialling - Back in Form

West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club members were again in action over the weekend at a number of open time trial events.

Stand out performance was the evergreen 73 year old Ron Back in the Eastern District Cycling Association’s 15 mile Open Time Trial hosted by Cycle Club Breckland on 2nd July. Ron posted an impressive 29:39 beating his veterans’ standard by a huge 9m 18 seconds.

Ron was back in action on Saturday at the Veterans’ Time Trial Association’s 25 mile event held on the E/2 course on a windy and drizzly A14. Ron posted 60:35, with club mates David Howes’s time of 59:55 and Tricia Goulden’s time of 58:01 both personal bests.

Saturday also saw the Norwich ABC 10 mile open Time Trial on the A143 between Wortwell and Bungay. A strong headwind on the return leg from Bungay faced Wheelers Jim Greenwood (26:32), Mark Eastwood (26:23) and John Steed (27:23), all of whom bettered their vet standards.
