Super Sprint Round 5 Duathlon Results
We had 20 entrants for the Last super sprint of the season, unfortunately Jill Wilshaw twisted her knee and Paul Sawyer had a puncture. So 18 finishers, first on the night was Pip Moore with a really quick time. Darren Sharman and Chris Brownhill took up second and third places. First lady was Esther Colman, beating Sharon Perry in what has been a very competitive season between them. Our Antipodean visitor, Michelle Perry was 3rd lady, on her way to the Worlds in London. We wish her well in the coming sprint distance competition.
Ian Pettitt won the Transition Trophy taking just 24s for both transitions. Well done to Ian. In second place was Myles Taylor in 30s. Now we know the standard to beat next year! Thanks to Rob Hasselder for being the line judge. No penalty points were awarded which was excellent.
All in all a very pleasant evening’s racing – the rain held off and, although the roads were a bit damp in places, this didn’t cause any issues. And so the 2013 Sprint Series ends: a very successful set of five races – 2 duathlons, 2 aquathons and a mini triathlon. Thanks to everyone for the support, and particularly to Phil for organising them, and to Neville and David for all their time keeping, making it seem effortless which, of course, we know it is not! Watch out for next year’s sprint series – we’re still working out what to do, but we are definitely going to try and build on this year’s success.
