Suffolk Cycle Race Series Week Two
Brinkley Wins at Trinity Park
There was excellent representation of West Suffolk riders at the Maglia Rosso sponsored SCRS week two at Trinity Park, Ipswich on Wednesday June 18th, but it was Andrew Brinkley that surpassed all expectations with a fine win in the E1234 main race. He looked comfortable in the huge leading group of 4th cats that started a minute ahead of the 3rds, with the E12’s starting a further minute back. As the race progressed the groups gradually came together, with smaller groups also scattered round the circuit. With a lap and a half to go, and with the E12s close to catching the back of the lead group, Brinkley made his strong attack off the front and quickly gained 100 metres or more. His exceptional pace enabled him to stay clear for the final lap, with the chasing pack sprinting home for second about 15 seconds down. Paul Vickers finished well up in this group with other WS riders contesting midfield positions including Jeremy Waterson, Richard Stiff, Matt Eaglen, Matt Denny and Steve Newman but Malcolm Bourg dnf’ed, reason unknown.

Eastern Cyclo-Cross - Final Round 2015/16
Gold Standard for Harley
The final race of this season’s Eastern Cyclo Cross League saw another bumper turnout from the Wheelers, this time at Trinity Park Ipswich on Sunday. A new course provided ample scope for some hard racing along the extended tarmac straights before riders took on the compact but technical hilly section. The racer also confirmed final league placings and medal winners, with top effort going to U10 Harley Gregory whose second place on the day capped a superb season’s racing with a well deserved gold medal.

Roller Racing 2016 Results
John Brooks Triumphs in a tight final
A somewhat disappointing turn out for the annual Rose Bowl trophy didn't prevent a night of exciting racing. The highlight was an incredibly tight final that saw John Brooks win by the tightest of margins. Video is on YouTube here.
There were two Juniors competing, Oscar Woodward and Kali Sharman, who both rode very well and challenged in the minor finals with Oscar taking fourth spot overall. His time was the second fastest of the evening - perhaps a future roller racing star for next year?

2016 Suffolk Punch
Record Breaking Suffolk Punch
The 28th annual Suffolk Punch on Sunday 7th February 2016 broke all previous attendance records with 165 starters. A bright, dry but windy day brought riders out from across the region to test themselves on the challenging Suffolk Punch routes.
The fact that The Suffolk Punch runs so smoothly is testament to Justin Wallace's well honed organisations skills and the able support of many, including our ever present chairman, Neville and the wonderful Maureen, Sue and Ann who served refreshments to the weary (Punch drunk?) riders as they returned. There was nothing but praise for the amazing selection of cakes contributed by Mark, Gill, Peter, Brenda, Des, Martyn, Dee, Karla, Nicole, Lesley, Carol, Jan, Sarah, Sue, Maureen and Ann. Very many thanks for your efforts.
Best of all, with money raised from the refreshments and a contribution from entry proceeds, the club will be donating £500 to the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Well done all - thanks for coming along and making it such a good day. Special thanks of course must go to Justin for running this event and for building it over the years into such a success.
Here's looking forward to 2017!
