Transition Trophy Competition

The transition trophy competition went ahead Wednesday night with 4 members taking to the start line to battle it out for this magnificent trophy. Winning the event was junior member Nathan Gauld blitzing the competition with a super quick combined time 9 seconds ahead of second place! Congratulations Nathan!

Transition Trophy Competition

Hello fellow Wheelers,
 
Before the nights draw in too far I thought it was about time I announced the Transition Trophy Competition!  The competition is open to ALL members (there is not a lot of running involved!!!) and is for one of the most attractive trophy's you're likely to set your eyes upon!
 
This will take place Wednesday 26th September on Priory School grounds, the home of our Club Room.  Please arrive before 18:30 to register and rack your bike etc.  First competitor will go off at 18:45 followed by others at one minute intervals.
 
The format will be a simulation of T1 and T2 in a regular triathlon which you will go through twice.  The winner will be the competitor with the lowest combined times!
 
Please wear your trisuit (or suitable clothing if you don't have one) and bring with you:
Swim hat
Goggles
Bike
Bike shoes
Race belt
Helmet
Running shoes
 
Call me sad but this competition excites me greatly!  Look forward to seeing lots of eager Wheelers next week...

Open Water Swimming

Due to personal circumstances Mary and David are unable to organise or provide lifts for the final two open water sessions at Fritton Lake this Saturday (22nd) or 1st October. If someone else is able to stand in for Mary and David for these couple of days please email: leaver10@tiscali.co.uk for details, your help would be greatly received. Otherwise anyone wishing to head over to Fritton to use the facilities will need to do so under their own steam.

Swimming Training Sessions

Organised swim training sessions, with a qualified swim coach, are held every Tuesday night at the Abbeycroft Leisure Centre, in Bury St Edmunds, from 8:15 for an 8:30 start. Three lanes are reserved for training and this costs £3 per coached session for club members.

About the West Suffolk Wheelers

  • The West Suffolk Wheelers cycling club was formed in 1922 and is based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. We have a good cross-section of cycling on offer to welcome new and experienced cyclists alike. If you wish to learn bike handling skills for on and/or off-road cycling our members have the knowledge and experience to teach you. The Club is proud of it's development work with young people, and we have coaches to guide new cyclists in their training.
