Wimbleball
Just back from Wimbleball, left the race with mixed feelings, time was 5 hours 42 mins. No moans or complaints, I learnt a lot and will be more educated next time round.
Alan completes Wimbleball
I had a very bad swim and left the water in over 700th place, a few things went wrong, buts that's the way the cookie crumbles, at times.
The start of the bike was packed, but once I got going, I did all right, i actually enjoyed the challange the many hills provided, I was on for a good time until i got 2 punctures, the last one almost left me with no tyre with only 5 mile to go !! ( hot tarmac and high pressure me thinks ) any way it made a loud BANG.
The 3 lap run course was also a real test, like the bike, I felt sick and it took 30 mins to get going or feel right,
On finishing 181st, I was pleased to overtake so many after the swim, there is nothing I would change in training to do this race again, I just had a bad start to the day, and it led me to being sick a few times and took untill 30 mins of the run before I could keep any food or drinks down , to feel so strong so late on, convinces me it was just bad luck on the day, it was the 2nd time I have done this distance and there will be more....there are also places left at bolton for the full UK IM, if I can get some time off work, mmmmm !!!
