The Mince Pie Run: 22nd December 2013
The annual club run/mince pie eating event at the 5 Bells Pub in Rattlesden will be taking place on Sunday 22nd December. Doors open 12-00 noon, all welcome. Either ride out with the club run or make your own way there for a festive get together with club members.
Off road club run on Sunday 22nd Dec
Leaving the club room at 8.45, anyone else fancy it. Cyclo cross and Mtb bikes will be essential. Might be best to bring a change of clothing if you are going to end up at the Mince Pie event (above)!!
Press Officer
The club has a press officer now Darren Baker has taken on the post, so if you would to see your name in the press send a report and with a photo if you can to him please.
Christmas Drinks
Christmas drinks in The Dove, Fri 20th around 7pm. Come along and have a catch up.
VTTA Lunch
Four WSW & Tri members attended the VTTA East Anglian group luncheon and prize presentation on Sunday 17th November and all received awards.
Trisha Goulden was ladies Best All Round Champion and set new group age records at 10, 25 and 50 miles plus standards at 10, 25, 30, 50 and 100 miles. David Howes achieved standards at 10 and 25 miles plus a team win medal and two age group win medals. Connie Tapper achieved another age group record certificate at 83 years of age.
Finally, Ron Back won two trophies, one for a win on standard and one for a win in the season long 10 mile points competition, a plaque for four standards (10, 25, 30 and 50 miles) and nine medals covering wins on standard, team win and age group victories.
Although Jim Greenwood did not attend the luncheon he achieved his 10 mile standard medal and a medal for a team win.
All in all, the club’s veteran Time Trial riders flew the flag well for the WSW & Tri club during the 2013 season.

Cyclo-Cross Coaching Sessions - fundamentals of cross!
With the Cyclo-Cross season well underway, it’s still not too late to join in or polish your current technique. Recently qualified BC Level 2 Cyclo-Cross Coach, Paul Barry is running a short series of Saturday morning coaching sessions aimed at those new to the sport or intermediate riders looking to make improvements.
- Ideal for beginner or intermediate riders
- Master the fundamental skills of cyclo-cross
- Focus on having fun and feeling confident on the bike!
This sessions will cover all the fundamental skills of cyclo-cross.

The dates/ times are:
- 21st December (9:00am to 11.00am)
- 28th December (9:00am to 11.00am)
The sessions will be based in the grounds of the Priory School.
Note: Due to the terrain and likely conditions, these sessions are only suitable for bikes fitted with off-road tyres (e.g. cyclo-cross or mountain bikes).
Treasure Hunt 28th Dec 2013
This is a light hearted fun event in teams of 2, 3 or families. You will be given 2 hours to go around and get answers to questions gaining points. Points will be deducted if you are late coming back.
10am starting from WSW & Tri HQ
Cost Adults: £1, Under 18: 50p (Money goes towards St Nicolas Hospice)

Winter Training
Swimming, Roller, Turbo and Running training for WSW & Tri members during Autumn/Winter 2013/4
Swimming
Tuesday 8.30 -9.30pm at Abbeycroft sports centre, coached session across three lanes to cater for all standards. Session starts promptly so please arrive for 8.15. £3.00 per session.
Monday 07.30 – 8.30pm Culford School, coached session joining the Bury Master swim club
£5 per session.
Youth Roller/Turbo
Tuesday - Coached roller and turbo training sessions for juvenile riders, starting at 6.30 till 7.30, with the emphasis on getting the youngsters spinning nice low gears and enjoying the sessions.
Junior Triathlon
Tuesdays from 5-6pm at South Lee School, and Sundays in the pool at Abbeycroft Leisure Centre also 5-6pm.
Run & Bike – Brick Training
Thursday 7.00pm until 8pm at the club house session starts at. Commencing October 31st
This is all about getting used to going between bike and run. Run from a program you will be in top form by the start of next season. Bring your bike, turbo (the club own a few that can be used), running kit, towel and water. A cadence sensor on your bike is also really helpful although you can get by without one.
Turbo & Roller Training
Wednesday 7.00 until 7.45pm at the club house. Commencing October 30th these sessions will be aimed at competitive members, on turbos or rollers, with an emphasis on intervals, and of 45 minutes duration, plus stretching.
Park Run
Every Saturday morning starting at 9am at Nowton Park IP29 5LU.
Free, weekly, 5K, timed run. The same distance as a sprint triathlon run.
