WSW & Tri Cyclocross
We had a good turnout on Friday afternoon/evening, loading up and preparing the course and a veritable army out at 7am setting up everything including the awesome arch, the gazebos, the course itself, catering, registration etc. This was followed by excellent marshaling throughout the day with plenty of back-up, and very popular ‘Crossers Café’ and efficient administration and then rapid and comprehensive clearing up and eventual unloading at the club store.
We even had a real good crop of competitors in most races, many of whom also helped on the day.
I’m not going to mention any names ~ you know what you did ~ but I do need to say THANKS and WELL DONE to all the members that made this a great event.
I hope we win the Event of the Season Award ~ we deserve it !

5 x 3 Mountain Bike Series
Four members of West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club travelled to Taverham Hall School in Norfolk for the latest round of the 5 x 3 Mountain Bike Race series on the 19th January.
Fresh from his exploits at the previous day’s cyclo cross league meeting in Bury St. Edmunds, Robin Lines competed along with club mate Rhys Holland-Jones in the U16 event. Both completed 6 laps in their allocated race time, with Robin finishing 5th just in front of Rhys who finished 6th.
In the longer senior event (1 hour 30 minute race time), Robin’s father Dick completed 6 laps in 1 hour 15:23 to finish 41st, whilst Rhys’s father Richard also completed 6 laps but in 1 hour 26:32 to finish 51st.
British Triathlon Membership
As Triathlon coordinator I would encourages you to consider membership of the British Triathlon Federation, with which we are affiliated. The BTF is the governing body of our sport. It organizes the national events in which we compete, selects and leads national teams representing Britain, and sets the standards and runs coaching courses from which we all benefit. More immediately, membership includes an insurance scheme that covers you while competing and training all year round.

Lightning Talk Evening
Monday 17th February. Starting at 7.30pm, WSW & Tri HQ
An Evening of short talks (5 minutes or less)
Following on from last year’s successful evening we will have another night of Lightning Talks. It is a series of short talks from as many people as we can get to present!
Each talk will be 5 minutes or less and will be strictly timed. You can use slides/powerpoint, but you don't need to. In fact, it may be better not to as there isn't much time. You will need to use you time wisely. The evening will be split into sections, so the audience can ask the presenters questions at the end of each section. The aim is to the keep the evening flowing as quickly as possible.
The talks can be about anything related to cycling, triathlon or anything else that will be of interest to members.
In order to make the evening a success, I need lots of people to give talks. We would like as many participants as possible so if you have an idea for a talk and would like to sign up, please contact Paul Callow paul_callow at hotmail.com.
We would also like as many people as possible to come and listen, so put the date in your diary
