Charity Ride
From 1st June 2014 – 14th June 2014 I will be attempting to cycle from Gibraltar to High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire as part of a 14 man Rockride2 team raising money for several different charities.
The distance to be covered in 14 days is 1500miles and the route includes Spain, the Pyrenees and France. These daily distances are rarely achieved outside professional cycling making it a considerably enduring challenge for all the riders.
The Rockride2 cycle ride is not a relay and all participating cyclists will cover the entire distance in an attempt to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity.
I am personally riding for SSAFA Suffolk (Soldiers, Sailors, Airforce Families Association) and am hoping to raise at least £10,000 between now and the Rockride2 event in June.
I am fully committed to the Rockride2 event and have been training several times a week since last summer and am now beginning to ‘ramp it up’ so I can endure the rigours of 100miles a day for 2 weeks!
If you would like to make a donation to any of the charities there are a number of ways of making contributions and any amount will make a difference. You never know – you may benefit from one of them in the future!
There has been a website created giving a more detailed overview of the Rockride2 event and assosiated charities should you wish to clarify anything. In addition Rockride2 is featured on Facebook and Twitter pages for maximum publicity.
Thank you for your support,
Alan Kemp.
Age 49 – soon to be 50!
