Good news all round
The June open committee meeting heard details of progress being made in the club in various ways.
Membership was reported at an all-time high at over 200, with new members joining us every week, comprising new converts to cycling, triathletes, returners to the sport, youngsters and all sorts.
Club runs continue to be generally well supported and the inaugural ‘Latte’ easy Sunday run was a great success. Some excellent sporting results by members were reported from across all disciplines and these have continued since that meeting ~ too many to mention here.
We also learned of progress on an updated design for club kit. We are currently awaiting proofs of the new design and all members will have the chance to pre-order from a range of garments, including two weights of jackets as well as shirts, shorts, skin suits and even arm warmers and buffs and female specific sizes as well. With the long manufacturing delay quoted, this new kit will not be available till the autumn however, but on winter club runs we will have the chance to show a united style to the world at large.
But perhaps the most dramatic news was that our Clubroom will become a reality later this summer. We have now ordered the modular building that will be erected within the grounds of the Priory School, just inside the Shakers Lane rear entrance. It is due for delivery in August, and therefore we are hoping to be able to commence occupancy very soon after that, after installing toilet and kitchen facilities. We will in due course plan our winter activities, which will probably include two turbo evenings per week and other activities of benefit to members such as coaching talks, opportunities to use the computerised training kit of which we have already taken delivery, planning meetings and social activities.
Exciting times.
Regards, Barry Denny, Club Chairman
