That was a busy weekend for WSW&TC members
I understand there was a good turnout for the Saturday ‘steady ride’ including two youngsters and their parents, about a dozen on the cappuccino ride and around 20 on the expresso ride on Sunday
Even so we fielded 10 riders on the interclub hill climb at Dalham in which Lee Sole came second on aggregate to Simon Daw of Sudbury. Full results on the web site.
We also had a record turnout for the CycloCross League at Hillyfields in Colchester. Jonny Sjolin achieved our best result with 12th in the U16 race, with last week’s winner of the Vets, Mike Bowen 15th in his race this week, after crashing and losing 5 places near the end of the 40 minute race. Barry Denny crashed (again) in a first bend pile-up, and found himself last of 93 riders, but recovered to finish 57th, with Adrian Grimwood 55th. Paul Barry made his season debut, finishing 72nd. This season’s new riders were Richard Balaam in the vets, gradually coming to terms with the technical nature of the discipline, with Matt Eaglen and Richard Stiff in with the ‘young blokes’ (Seniors and Juniors), finishing down the order but vowing to come back for more, now they see what’s needed.
Next weekend’s cross is at Davy Down (Thurrock) with Mistley the following Sunday.
PS Alan Trolove has been selected to ride in the Future Stars races at the Revolution track meeting at the Manchester Velodrome on the evening of Saturday October 29th. Anyone fancy coming up to watch?
