Kettler Ergoracer GT from 2009

For sale - Kettler Ergoracer GT from 2009. Back then, this was THE exercise bike for the seriously obsessed cyclist. More obsessed than me certainly. A couple of years back I was recovering from knee surgery in the winter and did the research and found the most expensive, most configurable and quietest exercise bike on the market. It comes with a mains power supply, a thick instruction manual and (I kid you not) a power calibration certificate. It goes up to 700 Watts, which is about 500 Watts higher than I have ever taken it. It takes standard saddles and pedals, so you should be able to copy your road or time trial geometry pretty well. It works with Polar and some other pulse belts.

Because I am selling this to members of the Wheelers I have to point out that the reason this lovely bike is still as good as new is that I have hardly ever used it, because despite all the research I did and all the sophisticated features it has, it is very very boring to use. I'd rather ride out in the cold any day than bake in front of a video on this thing. I can't stress this enough.

If after reading all this you're still interested in taking it off my hands, please search for it on the web, look at all the images and read the reviews. In 2009 it was the bees' knees, so there is a lot of "content" out there about it. It has a reasonable Q factor (much better than standard gym bikes) and is as adjustable as anything else I could find. It is much quieter than a Wattbike, which was the only thing that came close at the time. All the reviews I can find are good. Even the impartial ones. The people who wrote those reviews are clearly more obsessed with VO2 max and have much more willpower than me.

I'll have it setup in my hallway for the next few days, so if you're interested in a trial run that's fine. Bring your kit, favourite saddles and pedals if you like. It weighs about a tonne, but I can deliver it if I get help. The list price in 2009 was about £800. I think half price would be a fair price, but I'm open to offers. This will be the third consecutive winter I won't use it, so it has to go.

All the best
