IF YOU KNOW OF PAST MEMBERS PLEASE INVITE THEM ALONG AND TELL US IF THEY ACCEPT.

New 40km ride added!

To those of you who do not know me I am an 'Old' member of the Wheelers (first joined in 1958 but have not been very active until recently). You will no doubt have heard that I have volunteered to lead a slower/shorter ride for the Anniversary on May 5th. ......please press 'Read More' button for details........

My idea was that there could be several members (Past & Present) who would like to take part in a ride but would not be able to complete the 90km ride.I am trying to enlist as many ot the Past/Older/Retired/Not very Fit members as possible, people who still 'potter about' on their bikes but would not attempt a normal club run.

The aim is leave the Club HQ at 10-00 am for a ride through the lanes to the west of Bury, stopping for Coffee at about 11-00am (at West Stow Country Park Cafe). Then to continue the ride eastwards & stopping for Lunch at about 12-30pm (at the Bunbury Arms PH at Gt Barton).

After a leisurely Lunch then return via the Thurston/Bury Cyclepath to arrive back at the Club HQ at about 3-00pm for the 'Tea Party'. The ride will be at a steady/sedate pace (10-12mph) & we will wait for any slower riders who struggle to keep up.

I would like if possible to restrict the ride to adults only (18 plus) as I understand that the younger riders are well catered for with the 'Treasure Hunt'.

(Please note that the Coffee & Lunch stops are not compulsory & members are welcome to bring their own food & drink if they prefer) Also members can Join/ Leave the ride at the Coffee/Lunch stops if they so wish. I do need to give the caterers some idea of numbers so if you would like to come along please let me know.  Tony Fuler
