Lotus Cycle Race LeagueThe Lotus Cycle Race League starts this summer’s programme on Wednesday May 5th. This is an excellent way to commence real cycle racing and to compete on a regular basis, with sections for youngsters (under 16), regular racers including Juniors and newcomers to the sport. The events take place every Wednesday at The Lotus Cars Test Track, Hethel, Nr Wymondham, Norfolk from May 5th to July 28 inclusive. The full programme of events includes Training sessions and Races for Youngsters (Go Ride), Novice Races for newcomers (Go Race) and Scratch and Handicap racers for experienced riders. The full week by week programme, with times, and fees is available to view on www.lotuscycleracing.org. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO REGISTER FIRST. DUE TO SECURITY ISSUES, IT IS NOT PERMISSIBLE TO JUST TURN UP. See full details on the web site. Once you are registered you can then attend when ever you wish. There area number of West Suffolk Wheelers who have regularly raced here, and I expect there will be more in 2010. It is undoubtedly the best way to start road racing, with events to suit all abilities, traffic free, and well organised. Last Updated (Thursday, 29 April 2010 07:51) Alan Trolove - An Impressive PerformanceOn the back of a Top 10 ride in Thursday evenings club 10 mile T.T. with a short 27 minute time , only just behind our top club senior riders he made his début in the senior ‘B’ Group at Welwyn Track on Friday evening, a big step up from the Under 16s from last season, he said ‘ It was a lot faster than I expected it would be’. All the same he still achieved a 8th & 9th place in two events and finished the evening in the bunch in the 10 mile closing event. An impressive start to senior Track Racing for a 15 year old. Up early Saturday morning to ride a circuit race at Hogg Hill, a selection event to represent the Eastern Region at the UK School Games in September. Alan’s race the U16’s had many of the top riders from this age group, again this is one step up from last season for Alan. The race started fast for the first few laps, Alan was content to stay in the bunch and ride him self in, then Jack Oliver-Blaney Team Terminator went of the front & established a short lead, after another 2 laps Alex Anderson Welwyn Wheelers joined up with Jack they then held a 25sec lead over the bunch. By now a about 30mins into the race Alan had ridden himself in & was showing strongly at the head of the bunch and made a loan bid to join the leaders which he soon achieved although there lead was down to 15ses, these 3 worked well together to hold there lead without any riders from the bunch able to get across. On the last lap after 40mims of racing at he top of the hill Alex & Alan were together leaving Jack behind, down the hill & up the long drag Alex just held of Alan at the finish. A very impressive performance, WELL DONE ALAN, I would pick you for my team any day. PS. I said, you will have a lay in tomorrow won’t you, No I will be out on the club run.
