West Stow Medium Gear 14th April 2013

FARROW CLAIMS 2ND TIME TRIAL WIN

A big difference in temperature since the last time trial, 23 riders took part in this medium gear event held on the West Stow course. In 3rd place was  Boyd Nicholas with a 26.34, 2nd was Ben Mickleburgh from Team Velo Velocity with a 26.22 and winning his 2nd club time trial in a row was Richard Farrow with a 25.37.

Plomesgate CC Open 10 23-03-13

PLOMESGATE CYCLING CLUB (www.plomesgate.co.uk)

Open 10 MILE Time Trials for Tandems and Solos

Held on the afternoon of Saturday 23rd March 2013 on the B10/9 course, Plomesgate CC managed to run their open '10' on Saturday in very challenging conditions. 14 hardy riders rode the event in windy, freezing weather with snow falling horizontally. Fortunately the roads kept clear and no one punctured.  The winner managed to ride in sub-24 mins.

WSW & Tri member Gerry Barton completed the course in 34:25.

Kings lynn 2up 25miles 13th April

David Young (WSW & Tri) and Ben Mickleburgh (Velovelocity.co.uk) rode together in the Kings Lynn 2up 25 mile event and recored 1:11:11 winning the composite team competition. Mark Eastwood and John Steed (WSW & Tri) also competed and finished in a time of 1:17:04. Winning the event were Geoff Frost and David Staff (Velovelocity.co.uk) in a 59:03. There were 14 teams in total that took part.

Basildon Aquathon results

Sunday 7th saw five members take part in the Basildon Aquathon at the excellent Basildon sports village. This event is a pool swim followed by a mixed cross country and track run.

Three of our junior members all put in great performances in their TRi star age groups with

Casey-Jo Maggs in Tri star 3 came 10th overall in her first ever multisport event, Casey was in 2nd place after the swim. Niamh Perry in Tri star 2 came 12th overall another member with a strong swim section Niamh was also 2nd after their swim. In Tri star 1 Charlie Knowler came 25th overall & 17th male with a strong run section.

In adults race a 400 meter swim and 5k run saw Sharon Perry come a highly placed in 36th out of 136 and 3rd in age group and Phil Clarke finished 34th and 14th in age group.

Elvedon 2 - 6th April

Awesome days racing at Elveden. 3rd place for Will Mapus-Smith in his age related catergory race and Lee Sturman goes off-road to bag 3rd place at the end of a brilliant 3rd cat race. Excellant performance from Richard Farrow to finish in 12th.

  • The West Suffolk Wheelers cycling club was formed in 1922 and is based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. We have a good cross-section of cycling on offer to welcome new and experienced cyclists alike.
