Mickleburgh Takes It In The Cold!

Only eight riders braved the extreme cold and wind in the recent West Suffolk Wheelers time trial series on the 8.5 mile circuit near Little Whelnetham, with Dale Sturman taking overall victory from Ben Mickleburgh and David Giffin.

Phillips Takes Win At Heigham

Brian Phillips of the East Grinstead Cycle Club won the West Suffolk Wheelers Evening  Time Trial event on 9th August with an impressive 23mins 40secs held over a hilly circuit around Heigham village, on a very windy evening.

Dale Smashes WSW 24hr Record

In his fourth attempt to beat the long-standing WSW club 24 hourrecord, DALE STURMAN put in an awesome ride this weekend. Despitebattling against windy conditions and 6 hours of rain, Dale completed441 miles, beating the old record by 20 miles. He finished in eightplace overall in this annual national event.

Rooke Takes First Win

Paul Rooke took his first ever win in the West Suffolk Wheelers evening time trial series, nearly knocking two minutes off his personal best time with an impressive 24mins 45secs around a very windy ten mile circuit around Heigham.

About the West Suffolk Wheelers
  • The West Suffolk Wheelers cycling club was formed in 1922 and is based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. We have a good cross-section of cycling on offer to welcome new and experienced cyclists alike. If you wish to learn bike handling skills for on and/or off-road cycling our members have the knowledge and experience to teach you. The Club is proud of it's development work with young people, and we have coaches to guide new cyclists in their training. We are active in all areas of cycling including: Road Racing, Time Trials, Track Racing, Club Runs,Touring, Audax, Sportive, Mountain Biking and Cyclo-cross. Members also compete in triathlon competitions; the Club is recently affiliated to Triathlon England, and new triathlete members are welcomed
