Sudbury CC Mad March Hilly TT - 13th March

Six Wheelers took part in the 22 mile Mad March Hilly time trial on 13th March, organised by Sudbury CC and run over a testing course starting in Lavenham.  Fastest Wheeler was Paul Rooke who finished in 11th place with a time of 54:09, 2nd faster Wheeler, Richard Farrow finished 18th with a 55:42 and Jason (Chez) Davies finished 29th with a highly creditable 59:55 in his first ever race.

Tricia Goulden continued her good run of early season form with a 1:00:55 and finishing as the fastest Lady.  Andy Ward and Anita Buxton completed the course in a 1:01:18 and 1:04:50 respectively.

The overall winner was Mark Arnold from CC Desiragear with a time of 48:09 missing his own course record by one second!

Early Season First for Wheeler Sarah

Little Downham in Cambridgeshire was the venue for Ely & District CC’s  25mile time trial on Sunday.

In the teeth of a biting northerly wind and on slippery fen land road surfaces which caused at least 10 rider crashes, West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club riders Sarah Wells and Dale Sturman put in a brace of top early season performances. Sarah’s time of 1:10:17 gave her victory for first woman home. Dale clocked a whisker over the hour for 1:00:14, bringing him 7^th fastest on the day.

New for 2016 we are introducing a Club Triathlon Championships.

The aim is to have one venue where we can all race over different distances, in a friendly and safe environment.

Having lots of WSW competitors in the same race is also a good way to measure ourselves against each other and also get to know one another.

With this in mind we have selected the Fritton Triathlon weekend 18th/19th June. Situated between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft on the Norfolk Broads, Fritton Lake (NR31 9HA) is an ideal venue and having the championship as part of an open competition, it allows all members to enter.

Format

There are three race distances to choose from: super sprint, sprint and Olympic. Each race is  split into age groups, 17-34, 35-47, 48-60 and 61+, so something for everyone.

Trophies will be awarded for first man & woman in each age group, and these will be presented at the annual club awards event.

This weekend of racing is more than just triathlon, it's a perfect family day out or weekend away, where we can support and cheer each other on. Lots of accommodation on site from Camping, B&B or self catering Woodland Lodges.

Race for yourself, Race for your club, be part of the team.

I really hope as club we enter and support this and in future years the Club Triathlon Championship race is the first date in your diary. See you on the start line!
