Wheelers Strong in First Suffolk Cycle Race

Round 1 of the Maglia Rosso sponsored Suffolk Cycle Series Races rolled into Trinity Park Ipswich on Wednesday evening (22nd June). A series of closed circuit races a course of about 2 km long saw some very fast paced and competitive racing from a strong contingent of West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club racers, with Fraser Elsworth setting the tone with a hard fought 4^th spot in the Under 16 race.

Dale Sturminates the ECCA 100 mile TT

An outstanding individual performance from West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club’s Dale Sturman saw him post a new personal best at Sunday’s Eastern Counties Cycling Association’s 100mile time trial. Held on the E2/100c course with a start/finish at Gt Wilbraham, the route took in successive turns on the A14 between Kennet and Four Wentways.

Dale’s time of 3:54:16 knocked a massive 16 minutes off his previous personal best. Such was the style of finish, not only was Dale the first rider home (having started at 4:46am that morning), but he caught the timekeeper by surprise who had to run to the finish to get Dale’s finishing time!
