The club will again be promoting the Bury St Edmunds round of the Mud Sweat and Gears Mountain Bike racing series at Ickworth park.

Volunteers will be requested as helpers to set up course and marshal on the day.

Unhelpful weather meant a shortened field at West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club’s Thursday evening TT, held on the Horringer 7.5 mile course.

Leading home a field of 11 was Richard Farrow in 17:31, followed closely by Darren Davis (17:35) with Zoila Gilham-Fernandez third (19:07).

West Stow Medium Gear 10m TT 10th April 2016

Here's the results for the club’s 10 mile medium gear TT on the West Stow course.

This specialised early season time trial is a good test of fitness, technique and riding skills and demand riders use a gearing of 72 inches or lower meaning for each pedal revolution, the bike’s rear wheel  moves 72 inches. No gear change is allowed during the actual ride.

Fastest time was from Richard Farrow (25:45), with Fabian Horrocks (RP Vision Racing Team, 26:42) and Darren Sharman (26:46) following.

About the West Suffolk Wheelers

  • The West Suffolk Wheelers cycling club was formed in 1922 and is based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. We have a good cross-section of cycling on offer to welcome new and experienced cyclists alike. If you wish to learn bike handling skills for on and/or off-road cycling our members have the knowledge and experience to teach you. The Club is proud of it's development work with young people, and we have coaches to guide new cyclists in their training. We are active in all areas of cycling including: Road Racing, Time Trials, Track Racing, Club Runs,Touring, Audax, Sportive, Mountain Biking and Cyclo-cross. Members also compete in triathlon competitions; the Club is recently affiliated to Triathlon England, and new triathlete members are welcomed
