Triathlon Results

Gosfield Lakes was the venue for the Gosfield Standard Distance triathlon on Sunday

Matt Shingleton was highest placed Wheeler in a combined time of 2:09:57 for 2nd in the Male 40+ category and 3rd overall.

Just behind Matt was Keith Marra in 2:11:38 for 5th overall and 3rd in the Male Senior category. Hannah McInroy Naylor’s time of 2:31:38 earned her 38th position overall and 2nd in her Female Senior category.

Not to be outdone, Charlie Knowler took part in the Upminster Junior Triathlon Tri Star 1 race (9-10years) on Saturday. A fine performance was rewarded with 2nd place.

On Sunday Charlie was back in action at the Eastern Region Aquathon held on open water at Fritton Lake, where he again performed well for 3rd overall in Tri Star 1.

 

MSG Round 5

Radical Bikes, a purpose built off road cycling venue at Blackmore near Chelmsford, was the venue for round 5 of the Mud Sweat & Gears mountain bike series on Sunday.

West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club was again well represented with Robin Lines finishing a fine 9th in the youth category (4 laps, 1:21:18). Top placed rider was Jamie Wightman 5th in the Master Male race (7 laps, 1:53:37).

Suffolk Circuit Race Series

Trinity Park Ipswich was the venue for more great racing in round 3 of the Maglia Rosso sponsored Suffolk Circuit Race Series, at which West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club was again well represented.

Great East Swim

West Suffolk Wheelers & Triathlon Club member Julie Reeves took part in the Great East Swim of 2 miles at Alton Water on Saturday which she completed in 1:05:16 to finish 37th lady out of a mixed field of 273.

 

Plomesgate grass track

On a well prepared track and in beautiful sunshine, a large grid of riders started in all categories. Building on his 2nd place in last weeks grass track, Harley Gregory finished 1st U8 following a strong ride. Also in the Youth section Oliver Griggs finished 7th in the U10's. Representing the Seniors, Nicole Gregory, in only her second grass track event, finished 3rd Lady. There were also strong performances from David Young and, particularly, Jonathan Sjolin returning to grass track following a gap of several years.

  • The West Suffolk Wheelers cycling club was formed in 1922 and is based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. We have a good cross-section of cycling on offer to welcome new and experienced cyclists alike.
