Newmarket Tri 16-05-10

Another fantastic club performance at Newmarket!!!!!
13 Wheelers out of 160 competitors took part.
Mike Cross was a non starter due to burning the proverbial candle at both ends but managed to spectate and cheer everyone on! 4 medal haul is once again an incredible amount for such a young club.  The camaraderie amongst club members was plain to see and has been there from race one.  Sue Clarke in her 1st full tri came an excellent 129th and she was concerned about coming last but was far from that.
Helen Sturgeon 114th
Dawn D'Amarco 94th
Sharon Calton 49th
Julian Colman 45th
Ad Grimwood 39th
William Newland 24th and 1st Age group winner
Paul Horsley 24th
Julia Jepson 19th and 1st Lady (WOW).
Francois Smit 17th and 1st Age group winner
Lee Sole 10th (Deserved a medal).
Ben Mickleburgh 4th and 1st Age group winner.Laughing

Like last year this was a very well run event and there is no reason why our club cannot aspire to run one like this in the future.

Well done team West Suffolk!

Swim/Run Training at MH Health Club Friday

On Friday 28th May starting at 7 pm I have managed to get the use of the outside pool at the Morton Hall Health Club for us to hold a Swim/Run training session for club members and potential ones!!

The event will be timed and run similar to an Aquathon, the distances being 300m swim and 5k out and back ( up a hill) run.

Cost to take part will be a small fortune (£2.50) which will cover the cost of at least your first drink at the bar afterwards - and probably a bag of nuts!!

If you dont think you fancy taking part come and watch, cheer, help or just sip beer on the decking and feel slightly guilty that you didn't get ur hair wet...

Shower and changing facilities are all free to use.

Support your Club........see you there!

Waveney Valley Triathlon

Another good if not extremely cold day for West Suffolk Tri members who took part in this event.

Julia Jepson 2nd lady overall, only to be outdone by a very talented 15 year old.

Lee Sole Age group G winner

Paul Horsley, Age group I winner

Ann Fish, a regular at the Tuesday night swim session, also an age group winner.

The weather was a balmy 6 degrees and absolutely freezing, if only you could feel your feet when you transitioned from bike to run, but overall a good event and won in a time of 47.46.

Waveney Valley 2 on 5th September, entries open this week keep an eye on the tri-anglia website as this will fill quickly.
